Excursion: Australian War Memorial
We are taking an excursion to the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. By this stage of the unit you should have a sound knowledge of Australia's involvement in both World War I and World War II. This knowledge and your visit to the War Memorial will help you to complete your Assessment Task. A copy of this task can be found at the bottom of the page. You are to print off a copy and bring it with you to the War Memorial.
Some of the key exhibitions and galleries we will be visiting include:
'ANZAC Voices' - This is a new exhibition with artefacts, letters and diaries from WWI, bringing you the voices of the ANZACS.
'ANZAC Hall' - Contains various objects from WWI and WWII, including a Midget Submarine which was used during the Sydney raids in 1942.
'Second World War Gallery' - Provides artefacts on the Home Front experiences, war experiences, a display on the HMAS Sydney and vehicles used in the war on display.
'Western Front Galley' and 'Man in the Mud' - Providing an insight into trench warfare on the Western Front.
Exhibition - 'Sydney Under Attack!'
